Happy Sunday! Today I challenge you to do something new in your own 'backyard' and go some place you haven't been before.
I haven't taken a weekend trip in a while, as I'm saving for adventures when the weather warms up. So today and yesterday Joe and I decided to just go for a drive around Hawke's Bay to see what we could see. Needless to say stunning views, waterfalls and animal cuteness ensued.
Although the weather is still quite cold and there's snow on the ranges behind my house, the first signs of spring are starting the show in Hawke's Bay. You can see it in all the new little lambs and foals wandering in the fields. Probably one of the most difficult things about driving in New Zealand is trying not to wreck the car while looking at baby lambs. There's just nothing cuter than baby animals!
On Saturday we took a drive through the vineyards and past Te Mata peak toward Waimarama.
Along the way we stopped at Maraetotara Falls. In the summer time you can swim in the watering hole. It's absolutely beautiful, but was a little to cold to go for a dip this weekend.
Today we headed inland toward the snowy ranges. I was in search of snowy mountains and little lambs. Along the way, we passed a pasture where little piglets were nursing from their mama pig. Baby animals! We had to pull over.
I figured the animals would flee when we got out of the car. I did not expect that they'd all come charging towards us!
Have a great weekend!
